The stimulus bills one and two are being heralded as the best way to jumpstart the economy. If representatives had been listening to the American people as they were elected to do there would be no stimulus bill. The political class decided that we were too dumb to decide such an important matter and our choice was ignored.

We are about to take a chance on the repeal of the military’s ‘don’t ask - don’t tell’ rule. We will be crushing the choice that millions of young people want to make by leaving the matter of sexual preference at the door of civilian life and getting on with unhindered service to their country. Unseen or unrecognized is the possibility that taking this chance will change the choice of untold numbers of young men and women to join the military at all.

The healthcare proposals now stalled in both houses included language that warned us that we would be taking a chance on being fined or jailed if we didn’t get the proper coverage. No choice here but even worse, how could such a law be enforced? Would the government be forced to issue IDs and then run spot checks of its citizens to see if they were complying? Would a PIN number be like a vehicles VIN number? Maybe they could engage electronic monitoring systems like OnStar to keep tabs on us remotely and turn in the offenders at regular intervals. How do you spell big brother?

We have been told that we should take a chance on engaging our enemies around the world in dialogue and diplomacy in all instances. Our choice to walk softly in some cases and use the big stick in others has been tabled for the moment which leaves only one pertinent question. How’s that been working? Let’s not make a long list of failures or mention the contempt that extremists, terrorists and whole nations have leveled at America but let’s just take a gander at one well known attempt at dialogue.

From the first attempt at dialogue in the Arab Israeli conflict to the present there has been 25 separate accords, agreements and treaties starting with the ‘Peace proposals of Count Folke Bernadotte (1947-48) on through the Oslo accords of 1993 und up to the two and even the three state proposals of late. These chances at dialogue have all failed and now the choice of retaining the rights to settle in their own land is being taken away from Israelis every single day.

We decided to take a chance with Al Gore’s wistful warnings of global warming. Now with recent proof of exaggerated claims, false science and contrary science we are not so sure. Fox’s Bill O’Reilly said when he saw the ‘Green Police’ commercial in the recent Super Bowl ads he thought it was just a spoof making fun of the over exuberance of the green machine but after reflection he wasn’t so sure either. In that commercial even a cop’s choice to use a Styrofoam cup for his morning coffee could put him in jail.

Lets lump closing Gitmo, ending the use of waterboarding and using the term ‘man-made disasters’ all together as taking one big chance that it will make America look more gentle and kind. Rather than removing the choice of someone to assault us with some act of terror wouldn’t that bolster them? “If the consequences are not so dire why fear the ire?” What giant intellect decided that Hurricane Katrina, the Haitian earthquake and 9/11 can all uniformly be included in the same category? Are lumping terrorism, natural disasters and man-made disasters together really some kind of choice? On one level it certainly is a choice; it’s called the choice to be dumb.

One of the biggest long shots in American history for White House PR was the decision to bring the 9/11 terrorists to trial in New York City. Now that the decision is coming under greater scrutiny we can all breathe a sigh of relief for New Yorkers who could not be expected to take it on the chin yet once again. What a chance that was! What part of New York’s right to choose the trial venue was ever regarded, asked for or considered. It took a national furor to get the administration to consider the deepest feelings of the 12 million New Yorkers who are only now beginning to show signs of full recovery. This is a choice New Yorkers should never be deprived of for any reason.

The only place in American society where choice preempts, precedes and precludes taking a chance is on abortion. But if seen in the clear light of day it is the one area where we are taking the greatest chance.

Abortion denies that every citizen in every state is covered under the declaration of independence with the right to carry on with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Abortion denies an unborn child’s unalienable right and declares they are not independent of their own mother. For all the criticism we may level against the tenants of the Islamic religion perhaps we should not forget the sayings of one of the Muslim’s most noted poets, Kalil Gibran who said…

“Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.”

Abortion takes the chance that the nine Supreme Court justices that presided over Roe V. Wade and voted in favor of abortion in 1973 could not have made the most serious mistake in the history of American jurisprudence. Remember this is the same august body that ruled that an African American slave was chattel, (a word more commonly associated with farm animals and property) and thus had no right to own property as American citizens. (Dred Scot V. Sanford, 60 US 393, 1857) The next time you hear someone wave off the whole scourge of abortion with the old “it’s the law of the land” reply, keep in mind that Dred Scot was once also the law of the land.

The same judicial body that said an African American citizen is mere chattel is also willing to say that an unborn human being is merely a fetus, a glob of indistinct flesh with no heart beat, no brain wave and no right to begin life here among the rank and file of all American citizens. Is there a chance they are miserably wrong? I would say you could bet your life on it but it is easier to bet the lives of the unborn on it. God help us.

Finally, abortion takes the biggest chance of all that God is not saddened, deeply grieved and insulted with the slaughter of innocent humans for reasons not worthy of common barn animals. How could the Bible that holds man accountable for the humane treatment of livestock (Proverbs 12:10) simply have nothing at all to say about the wasting of some fifty million human babies since 1973?

Almost as a footnote it does well to mention that the number 40 is not only biblical numerology’s ‘time of ample proof’ but most prophecy is given generally in 40 year cycles. Those who have been preaching and standing against Roe V. Wade have been doing so for about 40 years. In 2013 Roe V. Wade will have been on the ledgers for about that long and that is also about the time most eschatologist see as the beginning of the ‘great tribulation’ spearheaded by the dreaded antichrist.

Abortion is taking a chance with America’s future. Over twenty times in scripture warnings are given about the shedding of innocent blood. Those warnings speak of dire consequences all the way up to the demise of entire nations. Judgment, calamities, disasters, plagues, civil uprisings and ultimate death are among the list of warnings to those who shed innocent blood. What a chance we are taking that God is not, and that he is not serious about these promises.

In the most recent Pew Research poll that organization declared that what was foremost on the minds of most Americans is the economy. Jobs and terrorism came in second and third and crime was at the bottom of a list of 13 things we consider as top priorities. Abortion didn’t make the list which is ample proof that we are being desensitized to one of the worst genocides in world history.

According to scripture our economy is more greatly threatened by our slaughter of the innocents than anyone is willing to admit. The great, timeless and immutable laws of reciprocation say that no one can continually see greater gain at the expense of someone else’s right to live. It is sad to think that only the complete demise of our economy could bring us to the pause needed to ascertain this immovable truth.

Many among us still consider it a crime to assault or destroy an unborn baby at any point after conception. Perhaps abortion was included within the crime category of the Pew report but that is not implied. The Bible is not so uncertain. The message of writ is distinct and explicit to the letter. Destroying human life is wrong and there is but one cure for it which will not change until the end of time.

So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord. (De 21:9)

As the American people grow more and more disenchanted with both Republicans and Democrats, could the Independent Party be looking at its first real chance to make a move? Scott Brown recently ran a successful campaign in Massachusetts proclaiming to be an “independent” Republican to shock many Democrats. The question for all politicians to begin asking themselves is, “Was Brown’s success due to anger at Democratic policy, or the draw to a candidate that sort of separated himself from both parties?”

As the 2010 elections draw closer, it would not be a surprise for some strategists to begin steering their own candidates in a similar direction. A growing Independent base has proven to be the difference in most all recent elections, including the most recent in Massachusetts. It is obvious that the American public has an increasing disdain for both Republicans and Democrats. They are tired of the playground antics of the party in charge being the bully, and the other party being the whining kid that is being picked on. What the American people truly want is candidates that will go to Washington and act like adults and actually serve the people that voted them there. This will no doubt be a focus in the upcoming elections this coming fall.

Politicians are all about riding the wave of current trend to victory. Scott Brown seized on this by declaring the Senate seat he was running for as the “People’s Seat”. He furthered his quest by saying he was not the typical Republican, but more of an independent one. This distancing from either party could prove to encourage more candidates to do the same. It would not be a shock to see candidates ripping the “D” and the “R” from their status in the near future, to replace it with an “I”.

On Tuesday, January 19, the Democrats suffered an unexpected defeat when Republican Scott Brown won the Senate seat once occupied by the late Ted Kennedy. Democrats had anticipated an easy win for state attorney general Martha Coakley, for whom both President Obama and former President Clinton campaigned. Brown’s win now eliminates the Democrats’ 60-seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. So what happened?

Perhaps the Republicans simply had a stronger candidate. While Brown ran a smooth campaign, Coakley’s was mired in gaffes. For instance, she infamously referred to Curt Schilling, a former Red Sox pitcher, as a Yankees fan. Brown presented himself as an independent man of the people; most of his campaign signs lacked any mention of his party affiliation. Massachusetts has more independent voters than Democrats and Republicans combined, so clearly this worked in his favor, especially since the tide of popular opinion has swayed against Obama and the Democrats in recent months.

The economy and healthcare reform were two hot-button issues that helped to decide the outcome of the race. Although voters who cited these issues as most important were fairly split between the two candidates, Democrats are perceived as being responsible for the current problems, as least in the minds of Massachusetts voters. Thus, it appears that the dialogue over healthcare in particular, one of Ted Kennedy’s lifelong passions, favored the Republicans.

Democrats will continue to examine the reasons for this epic loss in the coming months as they rethink their strategies for the mid-term elections. They will also struggle to move forward with their healthcare agenda as the wave appears to have turned against them. Is America’s love affair with Obama truly over? Only time will tell.

The Obama administration recently trumpet their new “Financial Crisis Responsibility Fee”. This new tax will apply to the nations largest 50 banks regardless if they participated in TARP or not. They will also be slapped with Obama’s new Financial Crisis Responsibility Fee even if they have paid back any bailouts plus interest.

One of the facts that many Americans do not realize is that many banks were “encouraged” by federal regulators to take bailout money. Think of it as similar “encouragement” that Tony Soprano may have applied to get his way from time to time. Some banks needed funds, others did not. Most of those banks paid back those funds as soon as the government allowed them even paying interest on the money the received.

Interestingly enough, this tax will not apply to profits, but to liabilities. The following example should help those not versed in the ins and outs of balance sheet accounting:

Assume you and your neighbor both have car loans at bank A. Times get tough and your neighbor asks for a home equity loan to help cover expenses. Worried about everyone in your neighborhood, bank “O” in its infinite wisdom gives you and all your neighbors home equity loans, even though you don’t want it.

After some time, your bank allows those people in your neighborhood who can afford to, pay back their home equity loans (with interest).

Later that month, bank “O” realizes that you have enough money to go on vacation and even tip the teen that mows your lawn. Bank “O” then starts charging you interest on the balance of your car loan that you have at bank A. In the words of the president of bank “O”, it was your and your neighborhood’s fault that you all took on risky car loans that caused many of you to face financial crisis.

So even though you didn’t want the home equity loan and have paid it back, bank “O” wants to teach you a lesson and get money from you to help pay for the money your neighbor still owes to bank “O”.

The Obama administration also hopes that its new Financial Crisis Responsibility Fee will discourage banks from taking on risky behavior by adding liabilities to their balance sheets. Liabilities are often the life blood that allows businesses to expand and grow.

The Financial Crisis Responsibility Fee is also forcing healthy banks to pay a fee to help support less health banks. As Marx said, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need”.

Marx would indeed be proud.

By Michael Bresciani

Trying to keep up on current events is hard enough but trying to keep up with the latest fabulous falsehoods, fickle phantasms, feints, fibs, fabrications and flip flops of the far left, Dem’s and liberals who now follow the President in metered step is completely exhausting.

The task of following the lies is daunting so I thought I’d just jot down every lie or flip flop that only the President made since he began to run for office. I couldn’t keep up with that either. To my surprise I found a few websites that were already engaged in cataloging those lies. One site has a list of over 150 specific lies the President has told in slightly less than two years.

Unfortunately one or two little websites on the backwaters of that vast informational ocean we call the internet doesn’t draw very much attention from anyone. With only one TV news agency that still endeavors to tell the truth (Fox) and the other half dozen major outlets doing most of their reporting from the hip pocket of the President, most of America it could be said, is walking in the dark.

Even more disturbing is the fact that many of them prefer to take the walk down liar’s lane rather than cutting through the barrage of rhetoric, exaggeration, hyperbole, deviance and political baloney. Who wants to cut through a thick jungle if there’s a nice clean paved road to the same destination? The trouble with that easier PC road is that it doesn’t always lead to the place a person or a nation wants to be.

Americans who are dedicated to the truth find themselves frantically swimming back to the lighthouse each time another politician, educator, news anchor or mindless minion wrecks yet another ship in this grand old fleet called the United States of America.

If we named our years like the Chinese then 2009 might be called ‘the year of the lie.’ Those sick of witnessing national shipwrecks have already begun to name 2010 the ‘year of reckoning.’

Perhaps it is what caused actor Ben Stein to say recently that he thought President Obama is unconsciously wrecking America all the while he believes he’s doing what is good for us all. Perhaps it is the same unconscious drive that brought over a million people to the inauguration of the President in Washington DC, even though not one of them was actually formally invited.

The only way to gather a million people anywhere is to give something away. There is never an empty seat in the audience of the Price is Right or the nightly broadcast of Wheel of Fortune or the venues where Oprah gave away cars to some of those in the audience. The promise made on the day of the Obama inauguration was that ‘change’ was about to begin. In order to give change a chance, something had to be given away, to the astonishment of those now carefully following Obama’s antics, appointments and approbations it seems he is prepared to give the whole country away.

It is said that people who don’t want to face the apparent truth simply deny what they see. That may work fine for the simple follower but leaders are straddled with the task of creating an alternate truth for the remaining folks who still want the real answer and for the record itself. Here is where a leader creates a truth to substitute for real events in real time. Sounds like double speak, so let’s see if we can find one prime example.

After the attempt to blow up a Detroit bound flight on Christmas Eve the suspected terrorist was taken to hospital and security agencies scrambled to piece together what went wrong. With access to the reports of every major intelligence agency, several days on the beaches of Hawaii to collect his thoughts and an entire nation waiting in the wings for a chance to hear the assessment of the events and what could be known of the suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, here’s what we got. Mr. Obama labeled him as an “isolated extremist” and returned to the lavish beaches of Hawaii. This is an alternate truth from what looks like an alternate universe.

We all accept the whimsical notion that ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ but has the extreme political correctness of the day finally put truth under the same maxim? Is truth only in the eye of the beholder? In fact some things are just plain ugly regardless of who is doing the beholding. The truth is just like that; it stands on its own with or without anyone’s support or recognition. It’s OK to see Mr. Abdulmutallab as a terrorist even as we wait for the President to catch up to the truth.

The ugly truth is that we now know that Mr. Abdulmutallab had strong ties to Al Qaeda and should not have been allowed so much as a chance to fly a kite over the United States much less to board an airplane bound for one of our major cities.

The nation seems to be splitting into two camps, one I call the Pontius Pilate crowd and the other is the band of faithful that think truth not only can be known but it was incarnated in the person (Jesus Christ) who said he was the truth (Jn 14:6) Those in the other camp make box office history by attending movies about vampires and avatars then sit around in college classrooms, discussion groups and TV punditry spectacles debating the old Pontius Pilate nonsensical and dishonest retort of “what is truth?” (Jn 18:38)

If someone never knew the truth or if they still need to ask the question of what it is, doesn’t it seem that this would be the last person we would want to elect to public office? Not today.

Truth is never relative and it is not born of convenient similitude. Al Gore’s inconvenient truth is one such example. In spite of serious dissent from the scientific community, doctored scientific evidence and a biblical promise that global warming will not be what brings down the rise of man it still looks that way, so why give it up?

Cronies of Darwinism fare no better. If we look like monkeys we must have come from monkeys the millions of missing links notwithstanding. The Darwin scheme has seen its better day since the advent of creation science but why give it up?

If we insist on discovering truth by loose associations and mere appearances then what is the difference between Bernie Madoff’s robbery of billions of dollars and Barack Obama’s nine trillion dollar debt bequeathed to our grandchildren. If it looks like a Ponzi scheme then who should we put in jail, can we say for sure? If we followed the same protocols we did for Darwinism and global warming then we must conclude that if it walks like a duck, if it quacks like a duck then it must be a duck.

Just when we are nearly convinced that we have a duck, we hear a zipper and out of the duck costume steps a man who says just because it looks like socialism, just because it looks like a Robin Hood complex, don’t worry it’s not socialism or her nasty twin communism, it’s really something called ‘change.’ Here is where we might want to hear someone say amen but we could even settle for a duh if there’s a teenager in the house.

The other truth about those who can’t seem to identify the truth is that they are never true to much of anything with the exception of their own personal interests.

It is recorded no less than eight times in the four gospels that Jesus said “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” It is puzzling only because almost everyone he spoke to had perfectly good ears. The mystery vanishes when it is seen that all that is heard that has any lasting value was said to come from revelation. The best example is when Jesus asked his disciples who men thought he was. They offered a few answers but then he asked them who they thought he was. Peter answered that he was the Son of the Living God.

Christ said he indeed was correct but then he said “Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” (Mt 16:17) Truth was not relative to what surrounds it or what speculations accompany it. According to Christ rather than being relative it was revelational.

When something is revealed it is God breathed and it passes out of the normal spectrum of time. It is not just an old thing from the past or a piece of the future somehow made known in the present. It is from the realm of the eternal. Such truth will withstand every test of time, it will outlast everything cast against it and when all lesser truths become moth eaten memories long since forgotten, the truth of God will be seen to establish a kingdom that will never end.

The last but equally important thing about truth that comes from revelation is that it is always applied truth. It is never general proverbial wisdom or mere ‘take it or leave it’ moral-isms and pious platitudes. It speaks to one person, a nation or the entire world and does not require the assent of the hearer to be true. It is never truth in the eye of the beholder. Because it is from eternity it crosses generational lines and there is never a time when it is not true, it applies in every moment of time, past, present and future.

Here is one of those truths. Be it president or pauper the Lord hates lies. The source of lies (Jn 8:44) has not changed since the days of antiquity; the result of lies is always the demise of the liar and those who believe those lies.

America was not founded on lies, it has for a time followed a few crafty pied pipers but not for long. It is this great nation that produced great minds like that of Abraham Lincoln. He addressed the business of piping an alluring song to the people to misguide them. Yes, we have all read it at some time or another but let’s look at it once again as we start the new year of 2010.

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)

Everyone remembers President Obama declaring that public insurance options would not cover illegal immigrants and Rep Joe Wilson shouting “You lie!”

There have also been numerous attempts by House and Senate Republicans to add amendments to the bills with specific language denying public finance insurance for illegal immigrants. All of those attempts have been defeated by the Democrats. The congressional research service has stated that HR 3200, the basis of most of the health care bill’s language, would cover illegal immigrants.

You can probably expect to see some language make it into drafts of final bills excluding public dollars to fund insurance for illegal immigrants as most voters are against providing it even if they are for some form of public option. Which does not explain the Democrats insistence that no such language is in the various bills or President Obama declaring that his plan would not cover those people in the country illegally.

Once language is inserted into the bill, then Americans do not have to worry about providing publicly funded insurance to illegal immigrants right?

Wrong!

In 1982, the Supreme Court ruled in Plyler v. Doe that benefits offered to the general public could not exclude certain groups of people even people in the country illegally.

Texas had a law that denied funds for public education to children in the country illegally. The Supreme Court ruled in Plyler v. Doe that the Texas state law was in violation of the constitution stating that “as illegal immigrant children are people “in any ordinary sense of the term”, and therefore had protection from discrimination”.

The President is either trying to mislead the American people or is ignorant of the fact that in Plyler v. Doe, the Supreme Court insured that the legislature would not be able to stop illegal immigrants from getting free or subsidized insurance if it is offered to the public in general.

This alone is enough reason to oppose any public option to be included in healthcare reform.

The next time you hear a politician say that illegals will not be covered under a public option, feel free to shout out either “You lie!” or “You are ignorant!”. However, shouting out “You are ignorant” is probably closer to the truth.

Of course there are many people in America who are looking to the government for the help to get through these tough times, because the government is like a father to them. If you need, the government will provide. Unfortunately, this is not what the American government is supposed to do, it is supposed to protect us from outside threats and keep other governments from any hostile actions. In fact it is supposed to keep a watchful eye on the charters of corporations, protect the people, print currency and maintain good fiscal policy. Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:‘I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.’

When did the government make the transformation into a police station of the country? Are all Americans that bad, that they need to be supervised that much? Nowadays the police harass people so that the local governments can extract funds from them. As of 2005 2.2 million Americans were in prison with a population of approximately 300 million (the most in the world), compared to 1.5 million in China with a population of approximately 1.33 billion. There are a few bad eggs out there, and those could easily be handled by the states and their respective county or city governments, isn’t that the way it is supposed to be? Yet people are divided by Democratic and Republican party lines so that they fight amongst each other instead of keep an eye or an ear open to the goings on in their government. A good tactic for keeping the masses busy while pundits stuff their pockets with loads of cash given to them by corporations who want laws changed in order that they might do business more profitably without regard to the well being of citizens.

Aside from the two-party system Americans have been led to fear their government. People have to be careful not to speed, drive without our papers, to not have insurance, to park on the wrong side of the street, to yell at a police officer, no getting mad in public at your kids either, question the government, say anything that could be considered terrorist-ic (but who even really knows what a terrorist is, and as far as the home grown terrorist act that was passed is concerned it could be anyone). Fearing the government will produce a few long-term scenarios, one of which will be dissent, another will be societal enslavement.

JFK, Lincoln, Washington and a few others warned us about the possibility of this occurring within our government. Americans fought a revolution to escape the persecution of English taxes and oppression. Americans fought to overcome the rule of a monarchy and became free. The constitution is necessary to maintain a free society. America’s politicians are taking advantage of people, now the people are being led into a pen, so maybe patriots need to take control of their flock and lead them away from this terrible pen they are being led into. If the American people would read the historical tactics that Nazi’s used to sway the public and implement their evil, they would be cautious and would not allow this current government to continue without supervision.

American people were once in control of their government, the American government is now in control of the people. Apathy is the quickest way to tyranny.

DN

I, Derek Nelson born 1970, have spent the past eight years studying global economics and global politics. I believe that the current global community needs truth and a media outlet that is not built on politics or owned by large corporations. Truth in news can only create a larger and more advanced society built on the reality of what is, rather than built on what corporations what you to buy. Talk to your neighbors and begin a dialog of what you deem to be important. Question your government, it is your duty.

When he finally completed his transformation of America into a Socialist State, people finally woke up, but it was too late as Obama is determined to make America over into a Marxist/Socialist society.

All of the items in the preceding paragraphs have been put into place. All can be documented very easily.

If you are an Obama Supporter, please recognize that you have elected a president who is a ’socialist’. There is simply no debate about these facts.

We all must pull together or watch the demise of a society that we all love and cherish. If you are a religious person, pray for our nation.

Never before in the history of America have we been confronted with problems so huge that the very existence of our country is in jeopardy.
